In a heated exchange, Attorney General Pam Bondi left far-left Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) at a loss for words after she effortlessly dismantled her weak argument. The Democrat was infuriated by Bondi’s rational decision to reorganize the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) to enhance government efficiency by aligning it more closely with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
For context, Rep. Rosa DeLauro is a long-serving Democratic Congresswoman from Connecticut, recognized for her progressive activism since 1991 and her striking purple hair. She holds a prominent position on the House Appropriations Committee and has been instrumental in opposing President Trump’s cabinet and America First agenda.
Regardless, Rep. DeLauro commenced her remarks with an unfounded attack on Trump’s AG and her strategy to refocus the ATF. In her lengthy tirade, she stated, “Your budget request for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, ATF, proposes a cut of 26% below the current level. How can you justify such massive [cuts]?”
Responding firmly to the progressive Democrat, Bondi stated, “I’m a career prosecutor, and I believe in keeping America safe, making America safe first, what we’re doing is ATF is going to be brought over with the DEA. What I will tell you will not be happening as ATF agents will not be knocking on the doors of legal gun owners in the middle of the night, asking them about their guns.”
In a dramatic interjection, DeLauro asserted that Bondi had not addressed her question, and remarked, “So my view, it’s fair to say that the Trump administration proposal short changes federal efforts to stop illegal gun trafficking and federal efforts to stop the flow of dangerous illegal drugs like fentanyl.
Irritated, AG Pam Bondi responded, “While I was trying to address your question in a calm manner, unlike yourself…” Yet, she was cut off by the purple-haired Democrat, who exclaimed, “Pardon me, Attorney General, please respond with a yes or no. Discuss the figures. I do not wish to hear your lengthy filibuster on this matter.”
Somehow maintaining her composure, Bondi replied before being rudely interrupted. She remarked, “We are in the process of reorganizing the ATF. Agents prefer to be active on the streets. I will provide you with an answer…” However, the furious Democrat interrupted once more.
Speaking over Bondi, the irate Democrat complained, “Mr. Chairman, you allocate a specific amount of time for me, and I hold you in high regard, but I am not obligated to listen, nor are my colleagues, to a filibuster when it concerns a straightforward question. However, I do have an answer to your inquiry. …the proposal will undermine our capacity to combat gun trafficking, and it will significantly diminish ATF support for state and local law enforcement, which assists in preventing and resolving violent crimes. It is a detrimental proposal.”
In a powerful rebuttal, Bondi shot back, “If you wish to hear my response in three seconds, you mentioned regulatory functions. That is precisely why we will not send ATF agents to the homes of gun owners in the middle of the night to inquire about their firearms, period. They will be actively engaged on the streets alongside the DEA.”
