The Secret Ava Kept

He smirked. I froze when he revealed that *he and Ava had been seeing each other for months before our divorce.*

“She said you’d be better off without me,” he added casually, like it was no big deal. My stomach dropped. Ava hadn’t just picked up the pieces of my broken life — she helped shatter it in the first place.

Everything suddenly made sense. The way she always had advice ready, how she subtly pushed me to leave him, and why she never dated anyone after I moved in with her.

I felt sick. I walked away without another word, deleting her number the second I got home.

She didn’t save me. She positioned herself to look like the hero after causing the storm.

**Lesson:**
Some people break you just to be the one who “fixes” you. Real friends don’t betray you behind your back — they protect you, even when you’re not looking.
