Johnson Calls Trump’s BBB ‘Most Conservative Legislation We’ve Ever Worked On’

House Speaker Mike Johnson praised President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” as “the most conservative legislation we’ve ever worked on,” during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News. Johnson said the bill—crafted over 14 months—is a blend of House and Senate contributions, designed to fulfill Trump’s campaign promises and pass by July 4th.

Key provisions include $1.6 trillion in savings, historic tax cuts, and cuts to government size and spending. Johnson highlighted a controversial Medicaid provision requiring able-bodied adults to work, look for a job, or volunteer 20 hours a week to qualify—calling it “commonsense” and “popular.”

He emphasized the bill’s economic impact, predicting Americans would gain $10,000 in additional take-home pay, thanks to tax exemptions on tips, overtime, and senior credits. Johnson argued the bill would revive the pre-COVID Trump economy “on steroids,” fueling growth through deregulation and tax reform.

“This bill is for everyone,” Johnson said. “It’s great policy that fulfills the America First agenda.”

Lesson: Republicans are pushing a sweeping, ultra-conservative bill aimed at reshaping the economy, welfare programs, and taxes—claiming broad benefits, but facing scrutiny over its work requirements and long-term impact.
