She took a photo of her daughter, but when they looked closer they froze

A mom named Joy Mills snapped a photo of her daughter Brooke in their backyard to mark her first day of seventh grade. She asked Brooke to pose next to a tree—but what they saw later shocked everyone.

After uploading the photo to Facebook, friends and relatives immediately commented: “Don’t you see it?!” Hidden along the tree trunk was a massive snake, camouflaged so well that no one noticed it at first—not even Brooke, who had been inches away.

“When she realized what was behind her, she was speechless,” Mills recalled. “We couldn’t believe how close it was.”

Thinking fast, Joy calmly told her daughter to step away from the tree without alerting her to the danger. Thankfully, the snake didn’t strike, and Brooke walked away unharmed—with one unforgettable story for school.
