Rejected for Her Looks: How I Got Revenge After a Sales Assistant Insulted My Wife

My wife Emma has always had a gift for fashion. She’s the reason I dress so well—she just gets style. After years in jobs that didn’t suit her heart, she finally decided to chase her dream in fashion retail.

One day, she saw a “Now Hiring” sign in a popular lingerie store. Excited, she went in—only to be cruelly dismissed by the sales assistant, who sneered, “You’re not pretty enough for this job. Don’t bother.” Emma came home in tears. I was furious.

No one talks to my wife like that.

So, I made a plan. With help from my friend Mike, a fashion industry pro, we went back. I pretended to shop while Mike played a “scout” looking for unique beauty. The assistant, eager to be discovered, offered herself up.

Mike smiled politely and said, “Sorry, not quite what we’re looking for.”

Then he turned to me.

“I have someone in mind,” I said. “My wife, Emma. She’s confident, kind, and absolutely stunning.”

Mike later met Emma, and though she didn’t become a model, her confidence soared. We passed that store a week later. Emma walked taller than ever.

Because the best revenge is becoming exactly who they said you couldn’t be.
