When we finally checked on him, we found something unexpected — our little son wasn’t crying because of pain or discomfort. Instead, he was staring wide-eyed at the crib mobile, spinning slowly. But something was wrong: the mobile’s soft music had stopped, and the colors had faded. It looked broken.
We fixed the mobile and switched it back on. Instantly, his crying slowed to hiccups, then stopped altogether. He smiled and reached for the little animals spinning above him.
That night, I realized that sometimes, it’s not about what we think a baby needs — it’s about tuning in to their tiny world, their small joys and fears. We had been so busy trying complicated solutions that we missed the simplest one: his favorite comfort was right there, just broken.
Becoming a parent is like learning a new language — one of patience, observation, and love. And sometimes, the smallest things make the biggest difference.
Lesson: When life feels overwhelming, don’t overlook the simple comforts that bring peace. Sometimes, a small fix is all it takes to heal a big problem — you just have to slow down and really listen.
