Michael returns home, feeling uneasy. His daughter Emily greets him happily, but when asked about his wife Jessica, Emily rolls her eyes. “She’s probably still sleeping,” she says with irritation.
During a private talk, Emily admits she hates when Jessica takes her to school. Then she whispers, “When you leave, my new mom gives me the medicine again. Save me.” That night, Michael watches Jessica force Emily to drink something, threatening her. Horrified, he comforts Emily and vows to find out what’s going on.
The next day, Michael confronts Jessica. She claims it was a mild sleep aid for nightmares, but Michael knows Emily never mentioned any. Jessica defends herself, but Michael throws her out. He later confirms with a doctor that the substance was a sedative—mild, but still wrong.
Michael takes time off, focuses on Emily, and promises to be there for her. He realizes rushing into marriage caused harm. Now, he’s rebuilding trust with his daughter—who finally feels safe again.
